Back To Work

Tomorrow I hope to be returning to work after the Summer break, I'm actually  really looking forward to getting back into things, there are some interesting units, I hope, to deliver this year and I have a nice work flow in place for delivery. It will also be my first year delivering via the Mac platform which should be interesting and if my expectations are correct, very enjoyable. I'm not sure what the format will be for this week, tomorrow as far as I'm aware is just an introductory session s...

Been downloading a lot of X-Play lately via iTunes - great gaming show hosted by the gorgeous Morgan Webb. Highly recommended!!

Review: Pakuma Choroka K1 Messenger

A MacBook Pro messenger bag is an essential piece of kit for those lucky enough to own a MacBook Pro, they have become something of fashion accessory in geek culture in addition to being something of a functional requirement for safe transportation. However there are so many options when it comes to buying one. After much research I purchased a Pakuma Choroka K1 Messenger recently and find it to be the best possible solution to my geek transport needs :) From its spacious capacity of 24 Litre...

Review: Batman Arkham Asylum

I and many others have been looking forward to Batman Arkham Asylum for months and  I have been counting the days until it's release  since sampling the demo some weeks ago. The game has been getting excellent reviews in the gaming press but I can now confirm first hand that it is a contender for my Game Of The Year, sure there are a few great releases out between now and Christmas but it’s going to have to be something very special to beat this for me. From the outset it’s clear that Batman ...

Weekend, Podcast Production & ScreenSteps Competition!!

Another fairly productive day, I spent some time working on completing podcast content for tomorrow and even managed to secure some copies of the fantastic ScreenSteps software which I will be reviewing!! That's right, listeners to episode two of the podcast will be in with a chance to win a copy of ScreenSteps - more details will be posted on the blog tomorrow and explained in the podcast which I expect to be available tomorrow evening or early on Saturday. It's a packed show this week and I ho...

Batman Arkham Asylum – I can’t wait!!

With only two more days to go until the release of what I am already considering to be my Game Of The Year I am like a kid on Christmas Eve, I know the game is going to be special and for the most part don't usually take the opinions of others on board when making purchasing judgments but when a release gets the glowing praise that this is getting you have to sit back and smile. For all those interested, doubters and fanboys alike: English/Australian Magazines Games Master UK 96% Plays...

You Ain’t Born Typical

It's an exciting time in the world of e-learning and in particular screencasting, this week sees the release of Camtasia For Mac from Techsmith. A market leader on the PC platform Camtasia is a screencast production application which provides for content capture, editing and distribution. This is the first release of the software and is due to be made available later today. I expect a trial version will be available for those wishing to test it out, for more information check out the visual loun...

Screencasting & Screenflow Review

Screencasting is a relatively new concept born out of the new media phenomenon as society seeks for ever more efficient ways of communicating with one another. Essentially it refers to the practice whereby the contents of a computer screen is recorded and then distributed in an attempt to provide instruction, demonstration or discussion on a matter of interest. The distribution can take a variety of forms such as .flv or .mov and target a variety of devices such as an iPod or HD TV, but in each ...

I Have A Forklift In My Dock!!

It's been quite a productive day, I finally managed to get my Twitter account sorted out and now actually have the people I want to follow on there. Still getting some spam requests coming through which is inevitable I guess, but I can deal with that. Twitterific is a great client, really like the interface and will probably upgrade to the full ad free version in the future. The whole new media thing is really amazing, a bit of an understatement I know but thinking about how it all comes togethe...

GeekCaster Podcast: Ep1

Even earlier than expected episode one of the podcast. Please forgive the background noise and less than perfect audio in places, I recorded this on my balcony window somewhat oblivious to the concept of background noise.... I promise to improve. Hope you enjoy.

The GeekCaster Podcast

With the dawn of a new blog structure, one I am pretty pleased with to date, comes the introduction of new projects and concepts. I have thought about producing a podcast/screencast for a long time now and although I have experimented with the idea in the past, I believe that I have a clearer idea of what I want to produce now than ever before. The GeekCaster Podcast then would essentially be reflection and exploration of geek culture, taking into account subject matter such as video games, alte...
